Heerema Hartlepool

Heerema Hartlepool, the UK fabrication location of Heerema Fabrication Group (HFC), was awarded a contract in December 2009 to fabricate and load out two substation platform topsides by AREVA T&D UK Ltd, on behalf of owners Statoil (formerly StatoilHydro) and Statkraft, for the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm.

Having already successfully completed the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract for the UK’s first offshore wind substation off the east coast of England, Heerema Hartlepool have shown their competence in providing for the offshore wind market.

Each of the decks for the Sheringham Shoal topsides are 30.5m long, 7.7m wide, 16m high and approximately 1,000 tonnes. The topsides will be constructed and onshore commissioned from Heerema Hartlepool’s extensive indoor fabrication halls, and are scheduled to sail out in September 2010.

The project is thought to provide over 1,000 jobs directly at the 97,000 m

2  site, with additional supply-chain jobs created around the North-East.

HFG headquarters are in the Netherlands, provides innovative, cost effective and high quality engineering driven fabrication solutions. Having originally provided for the oil & gas market, HFG is now a key provider for the offshore wind energy market.
