Get involved in the Masdar Initiative
The Masdar initiative is a huge Abu Dhabi government project which is getting wide coverage globally.
UK Renewables and UKTI are working with UK companies to develop contacts and business with the ground-breaking initiatives by Abu Dhabi with its $15 bn + Masdar project.
We have run a series of successful seminars and missions, and UK pavilions at the first two World Future Energy Summits in Abu Dhabi. The mutual importance of UK Capabilites and Masdar's opportunities is reinforced also by a high level Memorandum of Understanding designed to promote contact making and business development.
Masdar notes that:
Masdar is a highly strategic initiative with four primary objectives:
1. To help drive the economic diversification of Abu Dhabi.
2. To maintain, and later expand, Abu Dhabi's position in evolving global energy markets.
3. To position The United Arab Emirates as a developer of technology, and not simply an importer.
4. To make a meaningful contribution towards sustainable human development.
As part of its initiative is the creation of Masdar City, a 7 million Sq m zero energy city focused around the development of a new institute of technology specialising in research into clean technologies, to create a working city that will house clean tech companies. The aim is to become the world's first Zero energy city and to be a world centre for the development of clean tech.
Masdar are scouring the UK and the rest of the world for innovations and clean technology to be tested and implemented in Masdar City.
