With the developments in Scottish Government policy in relation to renewable heat development and the incorporation of renewable technologies into current and new domestic & commercial property, action has to start now. In addition, businesses and rural communities can use their own waste create their own energy for use or for selling to users and power companies. As both areas are easily interlinked this two day conference creates the right synergy for all these areas to be discussed, solutions developed and the way forward identified. Delegates can attend only one day or purchase a two day pass. Alongside the conference there will be an exhibition.
Tuesday 27th October 09 - Conference Day One Focus
With heat becoming a strategic part of Scotland’s and the UK’s plans to achieve the 2020 renewable energy targets it has effectively come of age in the energy mix. To reach these targets as much new renewable heat must be introduced as well as new renewable electricity. The challenges compared to the growth in electricity will be the creation of a new industry in renewable heat and engaging with the vast number of end users in decentralised heat usage. Join the debate to discover the measures that are being put in place to enable this growth and to find out how to be part of the new renewable heat challenge.
Wednesday 28th October 09 - Conference Day Two Focus
With the recent release of the Renewable Action Plan (RAP) the Scottish Government has sent out a clear message about the promotion of renewable heat and of maximising the use of our national resources. The target of 20% of total Scottish energy use from renewable sources has been set, this breaks down to 50% of electricity, 10 % of transport and 11% of heat. Bioenergy and Energy from Waste (EfW) are seen as playing a major role in meeting these targets especially for the heat and transport aspects. In line with actions outlined in the RAP Scottish Renewables is having a Bioenergy and Energy from Biowaste seminar to help identify opportunities and address barriers in this sector. The seminar will be an informative, interactive event that will help to promote growth and development across a range of waste producing industries.
