Large scale biomass projects in the UK have been established in the main in conjunction with imported feedstocks and a number of biomass fuelled electricity generation projects are either operational or in the planning stage.  These include E.ON’s 44MW Steven's Croft  facility near Lockerbie.  The strengthening of the demand end of the market can be expected to provide confidence for investment into a significant and viable domestic supply chain, supported by a number of initiatives and measures from regional and national authorities.  Further details can be found in the UK Government's Biomass Strategy.
